But (because there is always a \u201cbut\u201d), that <strong>does not mean that it is fully regulated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paraguay <strong>does not prohibit the use of cryptocurrencies<\/strong>, You can buy, sell, invest or make payments between parties that accept them. However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ande.gov.py\/institucional.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ANDE<\/a> is already very attentive to ensure that no one \u201chooks in\u201d without permission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFTengo_que_pagar_impuestos_por_mis_bitcoins\"><\/span>Do I have to pay taxes on my bitcoins?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, it is considered within the territory if it is paid, if it is considered foreign income it is tax exempt. Although the world of cryptocurrencies seems to be a parallel universe with no rules, in Paraguay <strong>there is already serious talk about how to regulate it.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Currently, there is no specific law<\/strong> to comprehensively regulate the use of cryptocurrencies. But that does not mean that the issue has been abandoned: in Congress, the following have already been presented <strong>several bills<\/strong> to create a legal framework to bring order to this new ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who are at the table? The DNIT distinguishes <strong>three main scenarios<\/strong> to apply taxes such as IRE (Corporate Income Tax) and VAT (Value Added Tax):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not the same to make <strong>trading<\/strong>, which <strong>buy a notebook with bitcoin<\/strong>, or that <strong>charge commissions for helping others move their cryptocurrency<\/strong>. And like any profit, <strong>is subject to IRE<\/strong> (Corporate Income Tax).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rate<\/strong>10% on gain.<br><strong>Example<\/strong>You buy 1 BTC at Gs. 50,000,000 and then sell it at Gs. 60.000.000 \u2192 Profit: Gs. 10,000,000 \u2192 You pay IRE of 10% on that profit (Gs. 1,000,000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>VAT<\/strong>Cryptocurrency trading as such, <strong>you do not pay VAT<\/strong> because it is considered a transaction with private securities, which are exempted according to Article 100 of Law 6380\/2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\ud83d\udccc <em>Ojo<\/em>Although it looks like a common sale and purchase, for DNIT this is not like selling a used bike, this is a digital asset that can generate income!.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Permuta_con_criptomonedas_intercambio_por_bienes_o_servicios\"><\/span>2. Exchange with cryptocurrencies (exchange for goods or services).<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use cryptos to pay for something (a pizza, a notebook, other crypto), the transaction is considered a <strong>swap<\/strong>, i.e, <strong>a modern barter with blockchain technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>cryptocurrency is VAT exempt<\/strong> as a private value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>But the good or service received may be taxed.<\/strong>, The seller has to liquidate the VAT on it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Example:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>You buy a laptop valued at Gs. 10.000.000 paying with 0,2 BTC.<br>You (the buyer): you do not pay VAT for delivering the crypto.<br>The seller: must pay VAT on the laptop (approx. Gs. 1,000,000). <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\ud83d\udccc This affects both the <strong>IRE<\/strong> (for rent) as well as to the <strong>VAT<\/strong> (for the provision or delivery of the good or service).<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Comisiones_o_servicios_relacionados_con_criptomonedas_%F0%9F%92%BC%F0%9F%92%B0\"><\/span>3. <strong>Commissions or services related to cryptocurrencies<\/strong> \ud83d\udcbc\ud83d\udcb0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are an intermediary or provide services related to crypto (e.g., buy and sell for third parties, manage wallets, charge commissions in P2P exchanges), the DNIT considers it as <strong>a taxable service activity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have to issue receipts <strong>stamped<\/strong>, declare income and pay taxes accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">E<strong>Practical example<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>You intermediate a sale of USDT and charge Gs. 500,000 for your service.<br>You pay IRE on that income.<br>You must apply the 10% VAT on the Gs. 500,000 (Gs. 50,000).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition: you have to issue sales receipts. <strong>stamped<\/strong> and maintain your records like any other service provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\ud83d\udccc <em>In a nutshell<\/em>If you earn money with cryptos, you have to declare it.
